JOB SUMMARY

This full-time position is responsible for furthering the mission of REAL Services through the recruitment, deployment and management of volunteer services. The Manager of Volunteer Services is responsible for managing all volunteer activities, including recruitment, application processing, project management, and training, recognition, reporting and intern management.  This position will work closely with all development team members and agency departments to support REAL Services clients, programs and special projects. The position oversees the management of volunteer activities with the community and will ensure a positive representation of the agency to the community. The individual in this position must be professional, enjoy working within a team, and be passionate about the mission of REAL Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work with the Director of Development to set and achieve volunteer services goals;
  • Work with the Director of Development to identify and manage outside organization relationships that support volunteer activities;
  • Work with the Campaign & Events Manager to promote fund development activities through the use of volunteer participation;
  • Communicate with the Mission Advancement Manager to market volunteer activities through the use of all media and social media channels;
  • Manage the relationships with volunteers in support of project activities;
  • Manage compiling and analyzing results for needed program changes and improvements;
  • Manage the training and orientation of volunteers;
  • Manage the scheduling and execution of volunteer projects;
  • Develop and implement communication and recognition for the volunteers;
  • Manage the scheduling and execution of intern assignments;
  • Implement and evaluate feedback from volunteers
  • Work with other departments to determine agency needs for volunteers and determine methods to meet those needs through volunteers.
  • Manage relationships with community partners that support our agency with volunteer activities;
  • Work with the Development Associate to ensure that all volunteer information is accurate in the donor database;
  • Represent REAL Services, Inc. in a professional, compassionate way by modeling REAL Services’ mission and vision to volunteers, staff and public.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has a substantial impact on the Agency’s ability to further its mission to assist our clients through the utilization of volunteer activities, as well as promoting Agency needs to the community. The incumbent must be able to articulate REAL Services’ mission to the community to share a passion for supporting the agency. Responsibilities include attending required meetings and trainings, use of the donor database, and providing timely reports.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience in volunteer management is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Excellent communication and organization skills;
  • Ability to work well with other staff members, community organizations, clients, media and the general public;
  • Knowledge of aging issues; knowledge of public relations or marketing;
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality;
  • Ability to recruit, manage and motivate volunteers and staff for events;
  • Team oriented person who is a self starter, is highly motivated, and is an independent worker;
  • Basic knowledge of computers and familiarity with Microsoft, Google, Database Management and Adobe Suite Products;
  • Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.

DIFFICULTY OF WORK

  • Ability to communicate and motivate diverse personalities
  • Communication with clients suffering from various disabilities (hard of hearing, confusion, etc.) can be challenging;
  • May occasionally require evening, weekend or early morning hours.

  • With staff in all REAL Services’ offices;

  • With the public, media, community groups and agencies;

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is usually seated, standing, or walking at will in a typical office setting.  Occasional presentations in the community and meetings with clients/volunteers may be required.  Limited physical effort required. Regular travel required throughout the REAL Services operating area.  Dependable transportation and valid driver’s license is required.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Successful candidate must submit to a pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle history check, a limited criminal history check and National Sex Offender registry check;
  • Proof of educational credentials is required at time of employment;
  • This position has a 6 month probationary period.
